Sometimes life takes you somewhere unexpected. Sophie Monroe, the other half of my essence, and I have just moved into a huge warehouse after 3 months of apartment hunting from hell. If you are looking in SF this summer I am sorry.
We've dubbed it The Dollhouse and its almost 4,000 square feet of awesomeness we never expected to find in San Francisco. Granted there is a layer of mud on the floor and our shower is made of doors barely nailed together, but we are pretty ecstatic about the potential.
Here's a little photo barrage of our progress:
The before! Original reference photos and the barely contained glee from the day we signed the lease:
Since we aren't planning any demo for the living room and kitchen areas we decided to tackle those first. We scrubbed the grime off the floor, painted a wall, primed the cabinets etc. We took an urgent trip to Ikea and snuggled in the front bucket seat after packing the car like the Beverly Hillbillies. This zone is now our little oasis in the chaos.
My little cave will eventually be the dungeon and Sophie's bedroom with tape walls is slowly filling up. I thought I had a lot of stuff, but she put me to shame.
Living here feels like joining a cult, totally absorbing and disorienting. Before you know it you've spent 12 hours scrubbing, painting and reorganzing the bathroom.
For the next 6 months (at least) I fully expect us to be covered in dirt and primer as we mold The Dollhouse to fit our needs.
Speaking of needs, this bitch needs some serious attention! If you would like to contribute to the cause for a little present in return check out The Dollhouse Amazon wishlist.
